Rhode Island, Afternoon
Trustom Pond has several spots that feel almost spiritual. The first: A field, grass chest-high, with a path slicing through the middle at an angle. The second: Osprey Point, a lookout across the pond filled with migratory birds, the sound of waves crashing just beyond the dunes. The third: A small peninsula, reached with a little bushwhacking, with a stand of corkscrew trees.
