The Hermitage, Day 1

The second biggest museum in the world (to the Louvre), and in a building to match. In all honesty, it’s not a great way to see art: Unending variety, at high density, with competition from the floors and walls and ceilings. We wandered for hours, overwhelmed by the scale and opulence.
